From what you've said about off road shoes - I would imagine you would be better off with double sided (open) SPD pedals.

SPD/SL cleats are not great for walking any distance but great for putting power through your cranks.

Not sure if this helps at all.

It's the wooden floors in some buildings that need protecting.

I'll go with what you're saying rather than have a second pair doing nothing.

Seller doesn't feel they'd meet my requirements, I'm willing to trust the seller on that part. That leaves yourself and @oldgreyandslow in the "queue".
