Was looking on Wiggle for some winter socks.

How about these?

How come Sealskinz are supposedly waterproof? Do they have a plastic lining? And they' re so expensive! Are they good?

As i've said on here before, Sealskinz have a waterproof layer that keeps the water that's come in through the top of the sock sloshing around your toes.
I only use mine as a layer on top of a pair of proper socks.
Bridgedale walking socks are my favourite.

I've experienced a top-entry ingress of water with them too. I've decided I won't be spending that much on socks again.

If you're wading around in mud which comes up to your knees like I was last weekend (on the top of Cut Gate in the peak district), there's not a lot which will stop the water going down into your boots and soaking your feet, even the seal skins. If I'd have managed to only have to wade up to my ankles, then the seal skins would have done the job fine. I like seal skins - they're the best waterproof socks out there, but they have their limits.
