Why? I haven't wore them out or holed them yet and I have had some of them in regular use for a few years.

Without disrespect to either Aldi or Lidl (where value for money is undeniable), to describe them as "best" is perhaps a little bit of an over-statement. All depends on experience though. If Aldi is all someone's ever bought then, yep, best they are!

I have had very expensive walking socks from well known dealers in Keswick and other Lakeland towns that wore out very quickly and were uncomfortable, even when used with a liner sock. Those were the days when I was doing two or more challenge walks a month + a fast weekly fell walk and I always bought what I thought was the best i.e usually a well known expensive brand. I have found Aldi and Lidl socks comfortable for use on the bike or in the gym and I still use them as liner socks on my occasional forays in to the fells. That is my reasoned opinion. Try them first then knock them if they don't suit. But don't sneer at other people's opinions, you don't know how much or little experience they have had.

Cush, I'm only pulling your leg. I used a double smiley to show that. I'm not questioning your experiences either. I'm actually inclined to agree with you, certainly for my uses. As I said in my first post, " I don't feel a need to pay £6 or £7 a pair". Anything more is wasted on me. But I'd certainly shy away from calling any Aldi or Lidl stuff 'best'. In my cycling experience, DeFeet socks take some DeFeating (ho ho)... but then I've not used them for fell running or whatever. And I'd certainly expect Assos (if they make socks) to be up there too. As we both seemingly agree, depends on our experiences.

Without question, no doubt at all, Aldi cycling socks are the best I have ever worn for cycling..... I have not tried any other brands but I also don't feel the need to.

I find them good for about an hour then they start to gather up under the sole for some reason, extremely good value though. Next pair will be Rapha, just to see if they are worth the money.
