Back in the mists of time, Prendas used to sell packs of socks at a good price. Not so now it seems.

Does anyone know of a good source for a similar deal? I don't feel a need to pay £6 or £7 a pair.

I got some good ones in a pack of 3 quite cheap, waterproof and luminous from.......T K Maxx of all places, and some gloves to boot!

EDIT: Just noticed your in France, also pack of 3 referred to socks as from my description it wasn't obvious.

I've picked up a few bits from TK Maxx (not cycling stuff) in the past and you can get some decent buys. A matter of pot-luck though I've found.

I'm holidaying in the UK first week of Sept so I'll probably have a look then.

Planet X might be doing another combo deal around Christmas this year.

Last years bundle contained 3 x Merino wool socks of various thicknesses with a bunch of other stuff for £20.

Failing that, usual suspects, Wiggle, Merlin, Chain Reaction; assuming they do reasonable shipping over the Channel!

hi yello
I got a three-pack of sporty socks from Intersport in France. They aren't specifically for cycling but are fine for it. They are quite low socks too, come up just past the ankle. FWIW I love the colour, very bright blue, cheers me up. Can't remember how much they were but not more than 7 or 8 euros.

are 'cycling' socks really necessary? won't any old sock do?

I was thinking the same thing. I have one pair of cycle socks, and I use them and ordinary socks more or less interchangeably - can't say I've noticed any real difference when riding, though the ordinary ones may be a bit soggier when I take them off at the end.

If they don't do the cycling then it means I have to ;)

No, pretty much any lowish cut sports sock will do.
