I've had this tool, as the youth of today would say "for, like, EVER" but I've never used it.
I thought I was going to get the chance as I've an old Maillard freewheel to remove.

I now know it's not for Maillards

It's old, and it's Cyclo...but wots it for?

I don't know but if it isn't for gears or cranks i'll make Marmion eat another hat.

None of these are this tool.....

Not a cassette tool, it's more the size of a b/b tool (hence my assumption it was for the Maillard freewheel)

I'm sure it is for some freewheel or another but what type?

Phew..got it..

It's a rocking horse turd..aka a cone remover for the Maillard Helicomatic. God knows why I have such a thing on my tool board, but at least I know why I've never used it, and that I wasn't just being thick and missed an obvious trick (would have been embarrassing given that I've worked with bikes on and off for the past 27 years)

Now I just need the helicomatic lockring tool...oh and a helicomatic hub to work on!

This forum just keeps looping back to itself....

I had a read of the helicomatic site linked to above and stumbled across something that reminded me of a recent failed product design attempt from our very own @mickle
On the last page of his thread was THIS POST.

It's a small world

It's a bottom bracket tool. I have one exactly the same. I think that when sealed BB's started to become common the splined fittings varied slightly between manufacturers, hence the slightly different sides on the tool
