My eldest daughter is 13 years and 5 days.Tonight she started guitar lessons.Dave the teacher comes to the house.First lesson 1hr is free.What commitment she put in .Just gone upstairs to have a word with her.She is practising.I am so proud.The youngest one is having lessons at school also.

My eldest (same age) has started working at the local stable to help pay for her riding lessons - she loves just being around horses anyway, so it is not work for her. She did an 8 hour stint up there last Saturday in the freezing cold.

It is great when they are keen!

...Kids are wonderful people...an open book/canvass and it only takes a small spark to light their fire....I wish her well with the guitar, sounds like she has all she needs...an inner desire to play well...if there's anything i can do to help from afar just shout....

My daughter (14) has been taking lessons for the guitar for a while and is getting quite good but I don't know if it will progress to being very good. My son (15) has been taking drumming lessons for about 3 months and is showing good signs, he now wants a drum set at home, glad I work away fom home a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to indulge them - I'm in a band with an 18 year old drummer who has been playing since he was 12. He is quite literally the sickest drummer I have ever seen play in person, when people come to gigs, they spend half the gig just watching the drummer.

It seems that there could be a band being formed at church.To get the teenagers more involved in worship music.Now that is going to be brilliant.We must encourage young people to get involved.
