Snapped chain - Question/advice

SRAM powerlinks (7,8 speed silver and 9 speed gold) are re-useable. SRAM powerlocks (10 speed) are use once only.

My mistake, I found KMC to be sheaper than SRAM anyways.

Out with the dog this morning on the mtn bike and just as I powered up a short ramp, from a standing start, the chain snapped. Luckily I remained clipped, wasn't going fast and there was a nice grass verge next to me so I neither bo11ock£d myself nor lost it big time but just kinda managed a controlled fall.

This thread would've been great with pics !!!!!!!

No no no, infact when reading my post again, it makes me sound very snippy. I am happy that you were able to correct my mistake. I was just adding that Crackle might want to use KMC's anyway because they are cheaper, sorry.

Last question. Do the KMC chains come with the powerlink or is it a seperate item?

Just examined the chain in more detail before. It snapped the pin after the Shimano pin you get with the new chain i.e. the other pin in the link. I can only think that I partially popped the plate when I was pushing the new pin through and didn't notice. I think I'll check more carefully next time, I don't want a repeat of that in a hairier situation.

Wiggle sent me a nine speed KMC chain instead of my links. Still it answered one question. KMC chains do come with the powerlink as well. Back it goes.
