There is of course a chance they are coming in ON the dog. We had a rough coated terrier that could carry a surprising number of slugs on his coat after he'd been running through long wet grass.

A long time ago I did a bit of work with pest control and we had a few call outs to slug problems.
The only answer is, as said above, seal the gaps and salt.

Or our cat who has a penchant for anything wiggly. Each morning the living room's an earthworm apocalypse if there's been a spot of rain the previous night. He's a bit of a weirdo.

Yes thats the solution .

Here is my story ,,,
Being single a pint of milk would last several days, so i used to use cartons of skimmed milk and never bothered putting it in the fridge, one day i made a cup of tea , put the milk in and mmm it had a funny taste to it, so thinking it was just a poorly made brew made another , again the same strange taste, so this time decided to throw the milk away and open a new carton.
Tipped the carton up into the sink and nothing ,,, no milk ? turned the carton over and blocking the hole in the corner was a SLUG.
It must have slipped in during the night and drowned,,,,,,,,,
Thats was over 10 years ago and the guy in the local shop still refers to milk that i buy as "Slug Milk"

So yes out came the salt and went to war on the slugs ,, as soon as that salt went down no more slugs.
