Hi all

I have recently purchased a specialized sirrus to commute to work and ive realised how much i used to enjoy cycling as a kid (even though im only 25 now)

My question is the other half and I went for a bike ride at the weekend and it qas very noticable how much quicker my bike was even at no effort. The other bike in question was a ladies rayleigh mountain bike. Now she isnt as keen a cyclist as me but would join me on weekend rides but would like to keep up. Is there a quick fix just to attach some slimmer wheels on this bike a bit like a diy hybrid conversion, or just to try and pick up a second hand/cheap hybrid for her?

thanks

Fit some slimmer tyres for her. Schwalbe City Jets are a good buy. Go for the 26x1.5 and pump them up to 80psi.
Oh, and be a gent and slow down!!!!!

just cycle faster and loose her in your wake

or get a faster girl friend

+2 on the city jets.

Massive difference on tarmac, roll pretty well and you can actually feel what the bike is doing!I

I would err on side of caution if considering leaving her in your wake especially if she is going to be cooking dinner...

I can assure you that i dont cycle at the speed of sound!

And she didnt really wait for me when i was on my old bike (£50 special from Woolworths, think it lasted about 50 miles)

Thanks for the advice on the tyres, they have just been ordered

so the city jets arrived yesterday.

Ive just changed the first tyre over i went to pump the inner tube back up and realised a massive difference in psi requirments. on the mountain bike tyre it recommends a psi of 40-65. on the city jets it recommends the psi around 85. i jsut the tyre pumped up to around 40 and couldnt get much more air in.

does that mean that that i need to change the inner tube as well (and if i do what one) or will it be ok because the tyre feels pretty pumped up?

Thanks

Matt
