The usual advice is to go for the same size as you would on the road, and if between sizes to go down. Some people go down size for CX anyway, but it's really based on personal preference. In the absence of that I would suggest you follow their sizing guide, if in doubt compare top tube size with your road bike.

It will be my first road style bike, currently riding a 20inch mtb, seems comfortable, think i would have been happy with an 18inch aswell. But not sure if mountain bike sizes can really help with road bike sizing. The rose has a 545mm toptube for the 58cm model and 560mm for the 60cm model. To be honest im not sure if these toptube lengths are short, long or average?

Is that the top tube itself, or the horizontal TT distance? As they are usually different. If it's the true TT measurement, then it's a fraction on the short side, and might weigh as a factor towards choosing the larger size.

The best thing to do would be to find a bike with as similar geometry as you can find, and go and sit on it in a local shop. TBH if this is your first road type bike then buying from Rose might not be the best option, as I believe the delivery times are relatively slow, which means that if you get the wrong size you'll be waiting twice as long. MTB sizing really doesn't help, sadly.

Nice looking bike though.

Just had a look and that is the horizontal TT distance, so definitely a short TT. Go for the 60.

My cross bike is a 59 Cube X-race, with horizontal TT of 565 and I am 185 cm tall.

Thanks for the help VamP, I think 60 will be my best bet, im fairly long limbed so should be fine, if not then it wont be anything drastic, that a few tweaks wont fix, im guessing people who drop a size, are doing so for cyclocross racing reasons, chuckability ect. Most ill be doing is tow paths, and bridleways, got the mountain bike for the rougher stuff. The 2012 Cube was my first choice, but impossible to source one atm, then the CAADX 105, but then i saw the Rose, and it just looks so much better value than the others, kind of got my heart set on it now, in andonized black. Any other opinions?

If you have your heart set on a disc bike, then I think there's two outstanding bikes out there - the Planet X Dirty Disco (carbon frame) and the Kinesis Pro 6 (more suitable for your use, as it comes with rack and guard bosses). The Whyte Cross range is also really interesting. TBH getting to actually see any of these bikes before buying is going to be a mission...

I am currently buying a Kinesis Csix 2 frame as my new starting bike, and have not found a single dealer who has one in stock. In my case I was not concerned about the size, but the colour as it comes in blue or white, and I wanted to see before buying. Gone with blue. Should be here next Tue

Sorry didnt see your post untill after i posted, TBH i dont really have a problem buying blind online, have done with my last 2 bikes and had no problems. Did have a look at the Dirty Disco but was already pushing my budget to its limit, and could do with rack and guard mounts. Really liked the black finish on the caadx tiagra models, so went for the same finish on this plus my MTB and hack bike are both white, so fancied a change. Thanks for the advice all

ps. Very nice looking frame VamP
