maybe a daft question but what would you say in the Spec road range is the equivalent to a Sirrus with drops? hope this makes sense....

By coincidence, I have Sirrus, Secteur and Tricross. 
The Secteur is road but has a very similar frame shape to the Sirrus and you'd easily look at them side by side and say they were comparable. However, I'd say the Tricross shares more of the multi-use benefits of the Sirrus but it's probably six against half a dozen.
I should also say, though, that our Sirrus is the basic model with 700x32 tyres, rather than the more specced out bikes in the range, most of which come with 700x28s. The lighter Sirrus models are probably more equivalent to the Secteur.

I have the Sirrus comp so reasonable spec, carbon forks etc. Just been thinking if a change from flat bars is the way to go.

I converted my sirrus sport 06 to drops, it has a bigger gearing I think. On the whole I'd say it was a good move but you'll never get the brakes 100% but it made a good trainer for me for a few years. The bike went from comfortably cruising a 15+mph average on a hilly route to a 16+mph and could just about cope with 19mph flat club run.
