Richie Porte has been a legend this year. I'd definitely like him have a shot his own next year with a different team.
Is it possible Sky will ride for him in La Vuelta?
If not Wiggins you'd hope so.

This year? Not a chance IMHO.

But since he is a commonwealth citizen, honorary knighthood doesn't apply. He can receive the real deal IIRCWhat a load of BS, anyway, he is a foreigner, so....
According to our friends at the Palace: "Foreign citizens occasionally receive honorary knighthoods; they are not dubbed, and they do not use the style 'Sir'. Such knighthoods are conferred by The Queen, on the advice of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, on those who have made an important contribution to relations between their country and Britain."
Therefore, his service to Britain is what exactly ?

I think you'll find it was the Italians and French who were yellow. The Nazis, for all their faults, were never considered chicken.Winning the Yellow Germany for the only British Team in the TDF springs to mind. Also as an Aussie (who's head of State is the Queen) he can be knighted and carry the title Sir.
Dan
Yellow Guernsey, surely?Winning the Yellow Germany for the only British Team in the TDF springs to mind. Also as an Aussie (who's head of State is the Queen) he can be knighted and carry the title Sir.

You may be right...Yellow Guernsey, surely?

I don't think it's a question of 'deserving'. He'll be too knackered after the TdF to do it justice as Froome showed last year.A shame, he deserves it after the incredible support he's given Froome this tour.

Henao or Uran for the Sky Vuelta leader for me but I could be wrong!

Maybe, on reflection, you meant the yellow bellied Japs of Commando comic fame?
for crying out loud, if they are going to give such things away like sweeties just because a guy actually does his job, what he is paid to do, they will devalue it, if such things deserve valued. What's with the british obsession with baubles, trinkets and effing SPOTYs ?A shame, he deserves it after the incredible support he's given Froome this tour.

apologies, i thought folk were still harping on about effing knighthoods, not la vuelta. My opinions still stand however.Giving what away? The chance to have a go at winning a Tour? I couldn't care less about "bauble, trinkets or SPOTY" - I wasn't referring to the Knighthood but to Porte having the support of a team behind him in La Vuelta. He deserves a shot, a chance because he has shown that he has the power to win with the great support has has given Froome over this Tour.
