And in the interest of Team Sky being a sporting bunch then I see no reason for Richie not being given the opportunity to be Team Leader next year!

I think Porte has been a committed and devoted wing man this tour, a real team player who has represented himself well and the team well. At times he has provided key support and done everything asked of him without question.
He is simply so much better than that reluctant self serving wing man Wiggo had to put up with last year.

Richie has ridden a blinder these past few stages. At a certain level he screwed up his high GC place in the pyrenees which would have helped Sky somewhat but he really has sacrificed himself. Being a good mate of Chris it must make it that bit sweeter. Froome has been very generous in his praise - something Wiggo perhaps might have done more graciously last year.
But Froome is just a class apart in this race, fulfilling something of the amazing talent that we could see last year - it would have been interesting to see how Wiggo might have compared to Froome but I think we all know his injury spared him some embarrassment.

I was always ofthe opinion that the Sir title should come at the end of someone's career.

But, when MPs get one after troughing in the commons is over, Quango leaders etc why shouldn't sports stars get one.

I think it was Danny Baker who read out a list of people who had refused knighthoods, can't remember many of them but it was definitely a list of very cool names.

What a load of BS, anyway, he is a foreigner, so....
According to our friends at the Palace: "Foreign citizens occasionally receive honorary knighthoods; they are not dubbed, and they do not use the style 'Sir'. Such knighthoods are conferred by The Queen, on the advice of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, on those who have made an important contribution to relations between their country and Britain."
Therefore, his service to Britain is what exactly ?
