Hi. Can someone recommend some pedals that have SPD on one side and flat on the other, for MTB use? Need to have a large platform for stability.

Alternatively, the Shimano M424 could work well, as by the look of them they would be easy to ride without being clipped in.

Cheers.

I use http://www.evanscycles.com/products/shimano/a520-spd-touring-pedals-ec006484 on my road bike and they do a good job or me.

Sorry for being unclear.
I either want SPD on one side and flat platform on the other, as with the M324 (which in fact I have on my hybrid). That is what I mean by single sided, in that the SPD is only on one side.
Or, I want SPD on both sides, but a platform big enough to be able to pedal well without being clipped in.

So it's either M424 for the latter, or something like the M324 but with a bigger platform.

Honestly? No I couldn't.

Double sided SPD's all the way off road for me, though all my road going only bikes have single sided.

Big fan of the M647 myself. Better built and less prone to clogging than the M424 ime.

I've got some A530s which have a big platform on the back. The downside is that the platform is not very grippy in the wet.
Wearing shoes with cleats on that 'platform' feels like it is teflon coated imo, wet or dry. Any force and my foot just skids off.

What about these

Wellgo WPD-996. Fairly safe bet you'll only get them from Taiwan/Hong Kong as I doubt they are imported into the UK (if they even still make them)

I have the M324 and the A520. The former is more MTB and the latter more road-like. The 520 is slippery on the non cleated side if using non rubbery shoes though.

I've got the M424's on my town bike, they will take plain shoes but my preference is not too. I find that when I have plain shoes the arch of my foot (towards the heel) ends up over the pop up rather than the ball of the foot which would be more efficient.
I've also got the A520's great light pedals but as hinted at in the posts above I don't think that's what you are looking for Ben.

Those look great, but as you say, there's no UK supplier.

Fleabay? It's where I get my wellgo kit from....

Any number of hardworking chaps in the far east will wrap a pair in their local newspaper, stock 'em in a jiffy, and post them to you in return for dollar.

Nothing on eBay as far as I can tell.
