I was wondering where you were that the temperature was 5C

That would seem pretty temperate after this week up here. Yesterday was about -8C when I got home and I'm thinking about 2 layers under the Foska winter jacket - a long-sleeve 'string vest' under a short-ssleeve merino base layer. Previously this sort of layering was used when I biked in and around Anchorage in the winter (typically -20C during the 'day'). Is it colder here are am I getting soft?

Why not try TORM, I took delivery of what appear to be a very fine jersey this week. I've yet tot try it out in anger but is appears to tick all the right boxes.

The T3 jersey is a plain coloured (grey/white/black/red), full zipped sportwool jersey. £45.

Got my jersey delivered today but it was far too tight for my liking.

I ordered the XL as I'm 6ft with a 42 inch chest and 35 inch waist, which according to their size chart should have been a relaxed fit.
It could probably just about pass as a sport fit but I didn't want that.

My skinny flatmate tried it on and it fit him perfectly, so he's going to buy it off me.

I'll email them tomorrow and find out if and when they release some new stuff what the sizes will be like, as it was a lovely jersey.

Decided to update with some honest thoughts since I've worn the Shutt VR winter jersey a few times now. (Note: NOT the popular training jersey, nor the autumn jersey. The 'winter jersey' seems no longer to be available)

It is a well made, good looking jersey. Fits well, washes well. Built to last. Shutt have designed and machined a top notch jersey with the material. That's the niggle for me; the material.

It's a merino blend call 'Perform'. It has merino's benefits; naturally wicking, soft, elastic, odour resistant, can be worn next to the skin. But as mentioned up-thread, merino is not wind resistant in the slightest. This is where I thought the 'Perform' blend might assist. It's a heavier weave, called 'winter weight', of 70% polyester and 30% merino. It IS warmer then your merino base, obviously, and it feels it when on. And it IS more wind resistant than a greater % merino mix jersey would be... but not greatly so and I find I need a gilet on cool days.. and then the jersey becomes too warm for me!

The jersey is, shall we say, 'moist' post ride. My body can feel clammy in it, yet my arms are chilled. It working as it's supposed to, I'm sure, and in certain conditions the jersey IS excellent; you know, temperature not too hot nor too cold sort of thing. Almost a 'precision' garment if you get my drift, not an every winter day garment.

So is it worth 100 notes? Depends how wealthy you are I guess - or how hot you run - but, imho, no. For me, it is neither fish nor fowl most of the time. It's a trap of it's own making really; too warm if warn with anything else but merino needs something else for wind resistance. My own feeling is that the 'Perform' fabric is too warm and/or insufficiently wind proof for use as a winter cycling shirt.

Bloody nice jersey though, and I do like wearing it!

Thanks Yello for that review.

Your impression is pretty close to my opinion re winter jerseys in general as being neither fish nor fowl. Even here in Cumbria where really cold conditions are short-lived, we get a lot of days with temperatures around 0-7C and high humidity. I find this too cool for jerseys - like you say, the lack of windproofing at least on the body is the problem. And if I'm going to go for a gilet as well, then I may as well just go for a windstopper jacket. On the other hand, if it might get too warm for a windstopper jacket, then I'm more likely to have short-sleeved jersey with arm warmers and a gilet.

I guess I run warm and can't imagine ever going for 3 layers with base layer, jersey and jacket - I'd die of heat exhaustion in this country. Even in the really cold spell last winter when I got back to find the temperature had dropped to -14C, I still only had a long-sleeved string vest under a thickish windproof and was comfortable.
