Ha! I think those little ones (the Classic?) are really handy. After all, the only tool I miss on my single bladed knives is the scissors, really :smile:

Slightly tangential, but I also like the specialised knives produced by the likes of Opinel, for instance, one for mushroom pickers;
http://www.opinel.com/uk/nature/champignon
they also do one that (I think) is a standard No.10, but with an integral corkscrew, they make an Oyster knife &c. (Not that I'd use any of that stuff either, but they seem to tie in to the French love of food, in that one would want the appropriate tool on hand).

Laguoile make these lovely "Waiter's Friend" type tools;

That's very nice indeed. But ... a letter opener?? Has anyone used one of those in the last ten years or so? It's also a pretty poor show that it doesn't have the tool monkey's banana slasher.
Or a happy little monkey face somewhere in the design, for that matter :smile:

Sensible answer to whether they're good or not - I reckon it will depend on the steel used - I can imagine a poor quality one being too flexible to be much use.

Victorinox have said £9.99 for any repairs outside of warranty.... I believe this to mean 1 x £9.99 covers all defect repairs bargain but may take 3 months as it will need to be returned to Switzerland bargain though.... probably will do this

Too flexible for a banana?
I was interested, mostly, in the bottle opener function, I admit.

(And that happy little monkey face).

A MASSIVE thanks :bravo:to @CarlP for starting this thread and making me think about my SAK and what it means to me .
Victorinox U.K have confirmed that 1 payment of £9.99 will fix or replace ALL faults on my knife even it requires them to return to it Switzerland. They even offered to inspect first before I sent payment to see if it was covered under the lifetime warranty and told me to list any faults that I do NOT want repairing for sentimental reasons (there aren't any) I am sooooo doing this..... It may come back like triggers broom though

I'll resurrect this thread with a new photo when I get it back. the only downside is it may take up to 3 months

Me too!
My sister bought me a purple one.. ooh goodness about 20 years ago now. It broke.. so I replaced it with this.. I have a spare upstairs too as they were on offer at the time.. lol about 8 years ago! ;)
Does love living on my keys and comes everywhere with me.. even aboard a plane (I forgot I had it and should have declared it).

Looking at all these is reminding me of a very kind man who helped me when I got my car stuck in mud on a country lane.. I needed the eye for the tow attachment for my car opened and said 'oh, I have a knife but not sure it'll be big strong enough' only for him to pull out a huge blade. I didn't know whether to be scared to death or grateful he could get to the tow hook... for a second it was fear I must admit.
I was very grateful when 2 other people arrived I must admit. lol He was a very nice man though. I was up and away after he towed me a few feet from the mud. :smile: (it was dark and I couldn't see the mud - storms and large rainful at the time).

@simon the viking, word of warning, if it goes back to Siwtzerland the chances are you will not get your original knife back, so if it is for sentimental reasons let the office know and they will not send it to the Swiss.
