should I glue a cut tyre

I was thinking about putting a puncture patch (or two) on the inside of the tyre, and then gluing the cut back together using superglue. The cut is too large just to leave. I've tried tyre boots (from Park tools) but they puncture the inner tubes after about 300 miles as they are very stiff and hard.

Would gluing the tyre like this last long? And can anyone see potential problems?

Depends how large the cut is, if it is too big then bin the tyre but small cuts can be repaired with rubber glue, the sort used to fix wetsuits, such as StormSure.
Do not use superglue as it dries to become hard and inflexible, can cause punctures.

thanks, I was thinking that the hard superglue itself could end up causing a puncture, and that it would probably crack very quickly too as the tyre is constantly flexing under weight/load whilst riding. Rubber glue isn't much cheaper than a new tyre! Stormsure is £3 delivered - that's good.

StormSure is about £5 to £6 for a tube.

Tyre boots are an emergency measure simply to get you home not to be used long term. Glue wouldnt work, you need a new tyre. What size is it ? Plenty of offers out there.

I don't phink there is any glue that will hold a cut tyre together. When phaced with this problem, I stitched a patch behind the cut with kevlar thread - it will hold but it is a short term solution .... seems such a waste of a tyre ....

Just bin the thing. By the time you've bought glue and messed around it's easier [and safer] to just buy new.
IMHO even a cheap tyre is better than a bodged up repair and as above there are plenty of offers out there.
