Thought it was just a bit of dirt but on closer inspection appears to be a crack in the weld. It's the non drive side of a cheapo Allez Sport frame. Any opinions welcome.

Whilst it's probably ok, I would be contacting either the bike shop if you bought it there or Specialized if you didn't.

Probably not - which because it is not definitely not, means yes.
If it is a new frame and under warranty I would reject it as faulty. If it is not under warranty - I would keep riding it and just keep an eye on it for signs of further deterioration.

I've had it 11 months done less than 2000 miles and I do look after my stuff. Well try to anyway. Hmm maybe I might send a couple of e mails.

Yes, if that cracking has appeared in that time span I would consider it to be a fault and therefore not fit for purpose. If part of the weld has cracked it is quite possible that the whole weld is faulty.

If you are the original owner from new then the frame has a lifetime warranty.
I'm not sure it's a crack but I would send some pics to specialized and seek their advice.

The Specialized warranty is second to none, if the frame is cracked they won't repair it but will have it replaced within a week.

Very clean for an 11 month old / 2000 mile bike. Or maybe you've seen the reaction of some when they post pictures (asking for advice) and get the 'your bike's dirty; give it a clean' advice.

Thanks I do try to take care of it and I've been chastised before for dirty bikes lol

Yes owner from new only bugger is I brought it online fromTredz so hope that doesn't mean going back to them first. Have found the Spesh details on the inter web may just give them a call and have a chat. It must be recent as I've cleaned it numerous times before and would have noticed it.

It is likely that they will send you to the nearest Specialized dealer, maybe a concept store should the frame be deemed faulty.
Let us know how you get on.
