But surely minors aren't in a suitable position to make that kind of decision, so therefore, a law for under 16 year olds is a good idea?

Hi Tom and welcome to the forums. I think you are well meaning in your post but helmet arguments are a regular occurence here. The subject has been done to death, the threads allways degenerate into a slanging match.Lots of us here are suffering helmet thread fatigue.

Under 16's might not see common sense in the same way, peer pressure, and for very young children, they may not know the benefits, and if its not law for minors to wear them, they might not, and they might get injured.

I've had my helmet quite possibly save my life (fell off some fairly high skinnies-head on rock, helmet ruined, head saved).

Parliament has already looked at making helmets compulsory and rejected it as the evidence does not show any benefit from making it compulsory. Get the facts then make you mind up.

Well Tom, may I also welcome you to the forum, checked out your videos, good start, at least it a differ 'rant ' angle :-)
May I suggest you also buy some gloves or padded mitts for your hands, it surprising how much shredding of skin, will happen if you take a tumble, especially on gravel, cos you will use your hands instinctively, when you go down, and or misjudge the gate post or similar object and wack you hand on it..It hurts.

Just a idea.

I've got some SixSixOne Rajis, but if im just on a short local bridleway like that, I dont usually bother (call me complacent but i've yet to fall on basic stuff like that). If i'm heading up to dalby forest etc, ive got them glued to my paws

Yeah, but when i'm on simple tracks and tarmac just plodding along, I love the feel of my grips without gloves, theyre super soft rubber so they cuddle my hands (sadly gloves wear them down ridiculously fast), but without gloves, i just like the feel of the bars

Good, innit?

It's the (supposedly) adults making comments about picking noses, and the teenager giving a serious answer!

Hi tombikess :hello:

(Personally I like wearing cycling gloves because of the towelling bit at the bottom of the thumb for wiping my nose!)

I tend to find that snot doesn't dribble out of my nose incontrollably, but maybe I'm just a freak.

I'm at the north end of Lancashire - tend to do south Lakes, Yorkshire Dales, Trough of Bowland - touring bike, though, not mountain bike. I think one of my road routes round the Trough goes near Gisburn...
