short or medium rear derailleur

Just got a new cassette, 12 - 25, 9 speed, new hg 9 speed chain, 42 - 52 front, now looking for a new rear mech, do i need a medium, or short cage. Thanks

short generally for that cassette, and up to 12-28

If you were going for a 12-32 or 12-34 then you would need a medium
