I'm pretty sure that you can't get a road wheelset without aero spokes unless they're entry level? I wouldn't think the Fulcrum ones are much wider than the ones on any other wheelset, certainly not enough to cause problems with crosswinds. A solid deep section rim certainly will though.
I always thought the Fulcrum spokes are wide bladed spokes? The point I was trying to make was that wide, flat, fully bladed spokes perform badly in crosswinds. Whereas thinner ovalized spokes are better at a wider range of yaw angles. See the link below from Zipp. Its a bit dated but it shows the improved wake from oval spokes.

CX Ray spokes are generally regarded as the ultimate, both in terms of Aero and also because of their fatigue strength. However, I had a good chat with the guys at HED UK and they said they have stopped using CX Rays on their wheels - at least on their Ardennes wheels. They say that the CX Ray's high fatigue strength is due to their flexibility, so they don't build a stiff wheel. Because modern carbon frames are so stiff, they feel they aren't up to the job anymore. Instead HED now use Sapim Race spokes which are then pressed into an ovalised shape. These spokes are surprisingly thin compared to many of the spokes you still see on other manufacturer's wheels. And of course a little heavier.
Because aerodynamics are so complex and the gains are so marginal, in my view I wouldn't waste my money on anything other than the best. Rim width and of course the fairing shape are absolutely crucial too. Just because the rim is deep doesn't mean jack if the whole package doesn't work together - hence why some shallow rims are almost as aero, even moreso, than some deeper sections.
So overall, and as I said above. If you think you're up to the job of powering them, then splash the cash. Thats what the pros do. Otherwise save your money and spend it on a really good, stiff, light and comfortable shallower rimmed wheel - which will perform over a wider range for us mortals I think.
Blimey - just listen to me. What do I know?
