They look more like mine, same plastic cover issue. The Velcro means I can be lazy and leave the laces slack enough to slip on and off like loafers, but still be secure enough for riding.

My brother's girlfriend makes shoes, I reckon she could attach some velcro. I'll see how the black ones fit, can return there and then if needed

Those are rather ugly IMO and a bit trainer'ish

Arrived at Halfords today, tried them on, too clompy for walking around (and yes they did have the hard cleat hole cover), so back to the drawing board

Watching some Bontrager street shoes on eBay. Worn just once apparently, I am just not sure about second hand shoes!

I'm looking at the Chrome Industry shoes at the moment and so far I've been successful at not hitting the buy button!! I don't know how long that'll last though.

Hey Vickster,

FYI, the MKS tourer flat pedal (then ones you normally put clips on) work great with the shimano shoes WITH plastic insert. Because one side is raised it bridges over the plastic insert so to speak.
