KMC DX10SC is what I need. They're going for anything around £14-25, so I'll do a little online shopping next week. May as well change the chain from new, as I had a new bike a few weeks ago. Start as you mean to go on, and all that.

Thanks to all for the info and help

It seems so, Ian. I've just read up on KMC/SRAM/Shimano chains when looking for a replacement. Many people mention that the 105 chain is crap, as you say.

May even try one of the Titanium Nitride Gold chains for the bling factor

I got just over 700 miles out of the Shimano chain on my CX bike, OK it was ridden in some muddy conditions, but was cleaned/lubed quite regularly.
KMC on there now, will see if there is a difference.

ps- Got the X93 10 speed from Ribble for just over £17, CRC want £23, stocked up for a few months worth

I've only had one 105 chain (so not a substantial sample) but it seemed on a par with SRAM/KMC but the convenience of the quicklinks (particularly the latter) @ a cheaper price wins hands down for me. As I said not a significant sample but my 105 (joined by a KMC link by the lbs) lasted 4500 miles (used all seasons but mostly selective winter days), it was still whole but I replaced it. The next SRAM chain lasted 4000 miles (spring, summer, Autumn miles) before I decided to replace it. The last KMC lasted just under 3900miles, in hard Autumn/winter conditions before I similarly decided as it wasn't fitting the chainring right, to replace it.
