Shimano 2300 Shifter Upgrade?

Hey,

I'm currently riding a 2012 Giant Defy 4 and this has the Shimano 2300 groupset (16 speed). I'm not a fan of the thumb shifters so is there any shifter upgrade I can do without buying dérailleur, cassette and shifters?

Yes - the Claris is the replacement for the 2300 - supposed to be very good for the price too - though we haven't fitted any in our workshop as yet.

I changed mine too, to 105. The thumb shifters are absolute shite. I have really no idea why they were ever invented.
The difference between the two is not comparable!

8 speed 105 shifters ????
Only 8 speed shifters I can find are claris !
I too have a defy 4 @double_dd and hate the thumb shifters with a passion, they never shift accurately.

No mate, I had 8 speed bottom end shimano and I changed them for 10sp 105.
The thumb shifting is all clunky IMHO.
