Shimano 2300 problem

Really?

Same problem here, I think, but now a complete failure. I've had the bike for about 5 years now, and its had a hard life.
Is there a simple fix?

I had a 2300 shifter that needed more and more lever throw , the LBS said it was on the way out .

Was referring to the OP's query - he said it was only 5 months old - ergo under warranty
