Shimano 105 Vs. Ultegra

What is th edifference...apart from the price tag?

There are two orbea bikes I like, one has the 105 at £999 and the other has the ultegra at £ 1499....that is a BIG difference for a bunch of cog wheels...am I missing something?

BTFG, I have a 105 groupset on my road bike and there are no problems whatsoever. Mrs A meanwhile (posh person that she is) has Ultegra with no problems whatsoever. You pays your money etc..............

I've got 105 on my new Jamis. First decent bike I've owned and it works absolutely superbly. I think the differences boil down to slightly less weight and (maybe) better looks rather than functionality.

Ultegra nice but there's no way it's worth £500 more.

Unless your a weight weenie then dura-ace isn't worth £500 over 105!

I have an Ultegra/Dura Ace mix on my best bike and 105 on the other one. If I am totally honest there is not a lot between them. Perhaps the Ultegra changes smoother and, perhaps it feels better, perhaps I am trying to convince myself that my extra outlay was worth it.

To refer to the original post, Ribble list the Ultegra g/set at only £75 more than 105, so I would suggest the £500 price difference is for other reasons.

I think you may be correct Joe...I read it more carefully and it seems the wheels are alos ultegra on the more pricy bike...which i assume is better and therefore more expensive.

Just seen your other post.

It seems to me that the £999 bike is Tiagra. The new generation Onix with 105 is from £1199. And the current £1499 is Ultegra SL.

I bought an Ultegra SL Onix at the start of the year. It's lurverly.
