I have a female lodger and we get on very well. But when she goes away to see her parents abroad, I'm free to wander around my house in my underpants, leave the washing up to grow a la Withnail & I plus I don't need to apologise for farting. I go into 'male slob mode' for the first few days.

Interesting what cyclists get up to when the OH is away. On the car forums I sometimes frequent, the first thing the blokes seem to do is clean engine parts in the dishwasher.

Mrs B only needs to be out of the house for 3 hours to do that successfully. The oven on the other hand she does need to be away for. Baking on high temperature paint for example, does leave a smell in the house which, takes a while to disperse.
