I'm thinking I may be able to get an extra mile per hour due to decreased wind resistance. How high do I shave, do I shave or wax, etc.? All the usual questions...

All the way up and back down again. Waxing is far better

For cycling purposes you can stop at the bottom of the shorts. Any higher than that is personal preference.

Or wear some 3/4 tights so you do not have to worry about shaving or showing your bare legs in public.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Serious cyclists shave the legs as it makes it easier to clean road rash, there are no other benefits from a sporting point of view.

Of course you might like like it

Wrong!
Massages are so much better without hair. Pro's have a massage after each race.

You're not wrong - I used to do sports massage and working on a hairy squash player was a whole different experience from the smoothly shaved cyclists I was used to. Mind you, the worst of all, was a semi-grown out shave - like trying to massage velcro
