Controversy or not, it was good to see that he was up and about at the velodrome last night, though he was taking a back seat. He looked a bit pale and tired, but that might be just because he's not been out in the Manchester rain for a while.

The BBC coverage actually did a pretty good discussion on helmets, with Sutton speaking up for personal choice and improved cycling infrastructure and Boardman did his usual excellent job on the question. Though I think the general drift was free choice but pro helmet, it was the best media discussion I've ever seen. Unfortunately, while the Sutton interview is HERE, the rest doesn't seem to be on iPlayer but some of it might be included in the highlights this afternoon.

Thanks for letting us know he is up and about - I felt that his accident was given less media coverage than Bradley Wiggins though it had the potential to be much worse.
It was given less coverage, mainly because Wiggins is the more recognised name. There was plenty follow up stories about Sutton's recovery in the mainstream press though, even on radio 2
