Looks really nice ,canal seems nice and quiet too ,normally you have to dodge walkers,runners ( Guilty ) ,dogs and fishermen .
As most people have said just ride as often as you can and enjoy it and don`t get too hung up on mileages.

Looks like a beautiful route, the last pic looks like the cycling would be tough going as well!
