In 2 cups of coffees time I'm going to set up my bike ahead of its first ride out. Other than legs slightly bent at full pedal extension what else should I be doing regarding reach etc?

Not a thing. Wait to see how it feels on the ride. Adjust anything afterwards

+1 for this. Tweak your position at the end of every ride for a couple of weeks and you will find a position thats suits your riding style.

Ta guys, think I'm quite happy with the position for the moment anyway. Did 20 miles today and the same yesterday and the only problems to speak of were numb toes from monging the setup of the spds and a sore arse from the new saddle which I'll no doubt get used to. (The saddle, not the sore arse!)

I'll stick to the methods I was taught be a professional framebuilder.

There's no point in me giving a long narative, I've done that before on another thread and no-one took any notice.

There ARE formulae. Both in frame dimension AND bike set-up.

Adjusting in drib-drabs as you ride is the quickest way to cause yourself an injury.

Seek professional advice. Go to a bike shop who run a competative team.
