Just a thought, when I was looking for a new bike, I was baseing every search on an inside leg of 29 in, which came up as a small frame . Then I realised that the hem of my trousers doesn't touch the floor , so my cycling inside leg is good inch or more longer than my clothing inside leg.
This was not helped by my dislike of trousers that fold around my ankles.
They say you live and learn, well that certainly applies if you are starting , as I did, at a low threshold....

No it doesn't - it only tells them how long the inside leg is!

@Accy cyclist is an inch shorter than me but his inside leg is 2 to 3 inches longer than mine. I have shortish legs and smallish hands and feet for my height but I have a long torso and big head!

It does to an extent. They asked for height and inside leg. Take one from the other and you have some measure of the rest of him.

If it was really "nearly two inches" you two much have been at the far reaches of normal human head size, which is strange if your torsos are at the same height. I found this fascinating chart, when checking to see if you had a point**.

** of course, if @ColinJ "had a point" that would explain the height difference.

That chart looks interesting. I'll look at it in more detail later after I have fed my hungry sister and nephew who are due round in about an hour.

I do feel a bit self-conscious about my head. It wasn't so bad when I had a full head of hair but at the rate it is falling out there soon won't be much left to disguise the size and shape of it. Perhaps I will have to take to wearing a cycling cap everywhere, even indoors!

Oh dear. Colin, it was a joke. Your head looks completely unremarkable .

I did take it as a joke, but I was looking in the mirror earlier and noticing my increasing hair loss. I feel slightly tempted to go for a hairstyle like Keith Flint from The Prodigy - just give up on the middle bit and shave it off and make the most of the luxuriant growth at the sides! (Possible dyed green to cover up the vast expanses of grey! )
