I've found that Sheldon's guide is effective. Works for me anyway.

yes, I've got what the shortcranks vid suggests and I can get most of the front my foot down with a slight tilt, just safe basically, the odd bit of camber catches me out sometime

people have their seats too high nearly as foten as too low I suspect, I certainly see riders too often that can;t reach the downstoke without having to roll their hips

That one works for me - thanks. I found with a 30% bend in the knee at full stretch my legs just never got to rest and the journey was far more tiring than allowing the leg to straighen out on each rev - without hip rolling obviously. Toe of foot just reaches the floor on stopping which is fine.
