I want to return a folding bike to Winstanleys as it's too small for me.

The bike is still in the original box (smaller than a normal bike box)

Winstanleys want £30 to provide a collection service which sounds very expensive.

Parcel Force 48 is £22

Anyone know a cheaper and reliable courier?

Try parcel2go, I've just boxed up a bike frame and wheels and it's come to about £10.

parcel2go is £30 too

the box weighs 14kgs

ParcelForce48 is probably my best option at £21.59

Expensive mistake on my part. Will buy from a seller that offers free returns on bikes next time (eg. Wiggle etc)

this one certainly appears to be the cheapest - have you actually used them? They use Parcel Force so I can't figure out why it is so much cheaper than going direct to Parcel Force!?

It will be based on quantity of parcels sent daily. The lot I work for despatch about 2000 parcels daily through Parcel Force and we have got an extremely cheap rate (£ 4.10) per parcel.

Can you send it "Standard Parcels" ? Much cheaper than ParcelForce 48 IME.
Counter staff at PO never seem to mention that one when you go in with a big parcel, but the size limits are just the same as on ParcelForce. No signature though.

well both boxes just been collected, was official Parcel Force van and all my documentation was as well, have receipt, tracking number etc. So I would say it's fine to use the Senditnow crowd.

so is collection also included in the price?

I might be a bit stupid but I could not figure out the maximum parcel size - it says not more than 1.5m in length and measured around the thickest part PLUS length should be no more than 3m. Well, if I measure around the box and then add that to the length it exceeds 3m!

nope, you're not being stupid, or at least we're being so together, I puzzled over these dimensions, and royal Mails, volumetric calcs for a while. Finally figured it would be ok, and kept my fingers crossed.

Both packages were bike boxes and measured L - 138cm, H - 76cm and D - 20cm - by my measures that's a girth of 192cm, plus 138cm length giving a total of 330cm - I just figured they shift bike boxes all the time and the boxes must be designed to ensure they meet whatever requirements.

Yes collection is included, I was just under £13 for each including VAT.
