seeing your point about not using it to commute. but my hybrid gets SO filthy in the rainy winter from commuting that I couldn't possibly inflict that on a nice roadie. I also commute on fridays along a sandy promenade, and back across a heath trail, so again, not going to happen  Im sure youd agree!

Wiggle have got some huge money off deals at the moment, but as usual nothing in my size! which is just typical.

I sat on a friends secteur sport today, which was slightly smaller but I very much liked the more upright riding position compared to some of the more racey setups. Hopefully the M-bike will sell on sunday, then next week Ill pop into primera and see what theyve got to sit on, and Ill take it from there.

quite exciting really! :wahhey:

In my experience people who have their heart set on a Specialized will buy a Specialized, but before you do, take a look at the current issue of Cycling Plus. They pan the Secteur Elite really badly, having it lose out roundly to a Carrera Carbon bike, among others.

I'm not defo set on specialized. One of my issues is that I want to buy from my LBS so I still have support in setup and after sales (they're amazing). They stock lots of makes, but on a few models fit my budget.

I'll entertain anything tho. They stock felt too, although they seem to be very pricey given the group set etc

I've got the Secteur Comp and it is a very nice bike and glad I went for it due to the riding position as even on this for my first few outings I had a few back pains. If I went for a more race orientated bike I can only imagine getting accustomed to it being a longer more painful period. I bought mine for £1080 from Evans in their new year sale and so far everything has been spot on. I'm 5'7 and bought a 54 due to 52 being just a bit too cramped. I was comparing it to a Giant Defy 1 which was also nice and to prove the sizing difference between frames I actually fitted best with a 51. The reason I went with the Secteur was the overall feel and being slightly more relaxed plus the 4 month wait to get one played a little part. It's definitely worth having a ride on more than just the one and have patience and you'll find exactly what's right for you.

Good luck.

If you can live with the Microshift STIs, then it's a pretty good choice. Eminently upgradeable, and just wheel and groupset upgrades would yield a sub 17 pund bike easily. See if you can do a deal with your LBS on the wheel/tyre combo, as the standard fitment is shite.

Hello,nice motor cycle.
I am also a Triumph owner (Sprint) have 7 other motor cycles.
All European.
I think you will be very lucky to sell the bike, and at £2,800 it is likely to remain your property .
The used motor cycle market is "flat"and buyers really desire a bargain.
January is also not the best time to sell a motor cycle.
Re. cycles I have 2 carbon (roadie and a hybrid) and recently purchased a winter use mountain bike.
Much better bike than I expected for the price.
Good Luck
Doug.
P.S. Unable to help you with cycle suggestions as my carbon bikes are built from new parts sourced from all over the world, including the L.B.S. (or shops,as there is 3 in my town)

Sorry, off topic but...

Unless he tries to sell it in France! As you're no doubt aware Doug, the price of 2nd hand bikes over here (and 2nd hand vehicles in general) is much higher than in the UK.

I keep half an eye open for another bike (a Sprint ST as it happens) but they seem to hold their value. It's well worth buying in the UK and going through the re-registration process.

Hello.
Nice to hear from you.
"Sprints" are a nice machine and I would recommend them.
Yes I do agree? used vehicle prices are so much cheaper in the U.K.
Bought the "Sprint" via e.bay ( unseen) and had it delivered, door to door for £200.
Being December I just could not face riding it here (3 years past)
The only problem I have with Triumphs is the absolutely horrendous price of spare parts.
So if you buy a Triumph keep your fingers crossed that it doesn't need repairs.
Yours
Doug.
