Pair of bats flying over a country lane, yesterday evening. First of the year.

I saw my first bat last night too. It looked quite unsteady in its flight.
Bit rusty maybe.

I saw a huge squadron of geese flying in formation this morning. They flew right over head and I could hear them calling/honking. They were flying northwards so maybe migrating.

I saw squillions of geese in a big field t'other day (I was on road sloping down above the field, so had a great view of them).... a car went past pulling a trailer which made a big bang as it went over a pothole, and they all took off en masse... superb sight! Noisy feckers, too!

Wed evening, we saw a hare on Breamore Downs. Or a really really big rabbit!

Sounds like a great ride Wafflycat ;). There was mention of a white stag in a newspaper this week.

It was a good ride.

Entire herd of white deer I regularly cycle past HERE The blighters escape as I've seen them miles away from the main deer park.

Pheasants, deer of various sorts, wabbits most days. I did get within a few yards of a fox once. And one time along the Grand union Canal I nearly had a mid-air with a heron.
Oh, and penguins and a wallaby. Cycling over by Dunstable Downs and Whipsnade Zoo.

On my way to Nottingham I saw these:-

A few weeks back I cycled up behind, and then overtook, a comely lady in flouro cycling coat and snug lycra shorts, who was cycling in a style that looked like bambi on ice.

Her legs were all over the shop (a trait I normally admire but in this instance it was really ungainly). As I overtook, the reason became clear. She was cycling in high heels and her feet were slipping all over the pedals.

She was cute though....

Didn't you let her draft you?
