I have a Caad10 and Supersix evo and my seat post creaks a lot especially on the Caad and was wondering if i can put a different clamp on that has got a deeper body on and how deep can i go without any hindrance or damage.

How much seat post is in the frame? - if it's not a lot that may be the issue with flexing - I'd start there before tampering with the seat clamp that has presumably been designed for the frame.

I have about half, i personally wouldn't rely on 'designed for' as makers are always trying to skimp where ever they can.

Yes i do, I do it every time it starts I take it out clean it and just inside the frame and reapply grease tighten up, but what I do notice is when I undo the clamp it never seems to be as tight as I tightened it up beforehand, its as if the threads are stretching, which is why is why I was asking about other clamps.

It is odd that you have 2 bikes creaking the same way ... Are you absolutely certain that it IS from the seatposts?

I spent a lot of time recently tracking down noises from my CAAD5 and most of them were not coming from where I thought they were!

Its more the caad10 thats the worse, I'm not worried about the supersix as that is very minor, trust me I spent ages tracking this down, out of curiosity, how much post is needed or not needed in the frame.

There's no easy answer to that, depends how much seat post is outside and how much weight is on it. I'd be tempted to just give it all a light squirt with the magic spray to start with, that can cure many a creak. Is it a carbon post though?

I was out on the supersix today and the clicking i get on that is definitely coming from the saddle area as i took the post out of the frame and was getting it, so, manipulated some oil in to where the rail enters the saddle and tightened up the the saddle bolt as much as i can without stripping it, tomorrow i will see, the Caad is totally different its more creaking that gets louder and louder and if i clean and regrease the post going in to the frame it stops, until the next time, and i have already done the oil on the rails so i know its not the saddle.
