Hi folks
I have had my Dawes Sardar for 3 years and done a few mini tours on him.
No big issues to report until yesterday I noticed it was hard to turn the handle bars.
It appears that the head set is stiff.
On the side it says... sealed casstete and there does not ppear to be a nut to loosen and remove he piece.

Is it a bke shop job or should I have a bash myself? Is it re greasable? Any hints for getting it apart?

Thanks folks

Looks like that is a straight forward traditional A-Head headset.

You need to take the top cap off. Then loosen the bolts attaching the stem to the steerer and lift the stem off.

Then remove any spacers and you should get to a cover for the upper headset race - that should just lift off and you should see some bearings - take out and re-grease.

Then take the forks out - the bottom is exacty as the top but upside down - again re-grease.

Then put everything back together.

Finally you tighten up the top cap until there is no play but the forks move freely and then tighten up the bolts on the stem.
