I rate sealskins v highly even thought the sizing info re halo overshoes is misleading.

The socks work very well for me, so well that I do not normally bother with overshoes. I accept that some water will trickle down the legs but the effect is rather like a wetsuit

With roomy shoes there warm, i do suffer with a numb big toe when it gets colder.
Water will run inside them from the top.

And sweat also stays inside.

I dont wear them on very cold rides as there not good enough for me.
But there well worth the money

Whilst not cycling, I did buy a pair before setting out to walk the SW Coast path about 10 years ago.

I got them at the London Marathon exhibition where they had a guy wearing the socks stood in a transparent perspex tray filled with water.

Of course the time of year I chose for my walk turned out to be, at the time, the wettest June in living memory ☹️

The socks lasted about five days of intermittent wearing before my big toe poked through. The up and down terrain probably contributed to the wear and tear, and pedalling probably wouldn't put the same stresses on the socks, but it's something to bear in mind if you have " pointy" feet.

My socks have done many thousands of miles cycling over a good few years, they have taking a fair old bit of bashing with no wear what so ever.
I think you must have a faulty sock or suchlike. I would contact either sealskinz or the place where you bought them and ask for a replacement pair.

They ended up in a bin somewhere in the region of Tintagel. 😁
To be fair to the socks, the big toe on my right foot is much longer than the one on my left foot and this is where the sock eventually wore through.
The terrain was very rugged so going downhill placed a lot of stress on the sock which you wouldn't get cycling or walking in less demanding terrain.

I like mine for cold wet riding. You have to prevent runoff going inside the socks.
Don't squash them into summer shoes, winter socks need more room and more generously sized shoes.

The socks are great, but on the other hand the Sealskinz gloves are useless.

My Sealskinz socks are cold and let the water in.

I am not certain if they are supposed to be waterproof - I've long since lost the packaging - but neither are they warm.

I can't see the point over ordinary socks, perhaps doubled up.

Yes i have my doubts about the entire concept.
I have some but rarely wear them - they feel hard.
If expecting lots of rain, which will inevitably get through even if wearing overshoes, i tend to just take a spare pair of socks, often lidl's synthetic toasty socks.

i ditched seal skins years ago, its the plastic liner that doesnt help, crap man made fibres. i wore them once in wet weather and the rian ran down my legs and filled the socks with water!!
This ^^^^. I found it was better to wear warm but easy dry socks as once the inside of Sealskinz are wet, they are wet for a good few days.
