I've given up trying to sort this out, and will just change to a different brand. The ongoing hassle was more trouble than the £20 value of the tyres warranted. At least I got 1500 miles out of them.
It's unfortunate that Schwalbe have started putting out junk, though. City Jets were my favourite.
