I just make my peace with it in that regardless of the drug-taking, it's still an amazing spectacle and still an incredible feat of human endurance.

That's almost part of the problem isn't it? There's a kind of moral ambivalence among the fans. We know that riding and winning the Tour takes so much more than a syringe of go juice. That won't give you the mental strength, the tactical skill or the sheer bravery required. I want a clean Tour, of course I do, but it's hard to maintain any real anger at the cheats.
