SSN said fractured pelvis.
From what I heard it was a fracture of the sacrum. This forms the rear part of the pelvis, and is effectively the last few vertebrae fused together.

Gutted, as I'm a big fan of AS. Contador missing as well makes the climbing stages much less interesting. Evans and Brad are good climbers, but they don't launch the same type of attacks that the pure climbers do. I'd hate to see dull mountain stages where teams simply pace the leaders all the way, a la the Indurain led Banesto era.

I think you ll see more attacks this year . The french and the south americans won't just roll over.

The downside of this is that one less GC contender means one less team assisting team sky - though I would imagine Frank will be confident of cracking the top ten and having a go at victory/podium, so this may not be an issue.

Hmm wonder what Fab and Jens will get up to this year ?

Breakaways, yes. But I suspect that Sky and BMC will set a fast pace which few riders will have enough left to attack with. Its the Schleck/Contador types that generally do. I hope I'm wrong.
