Bottles on the bike are actually an aerodynamic advantage, a lot of TT'ers just leave the empty bottles on the bike as they are proven to save a second or two.

If it's your 1st TT tonight I wouldn't be that concerned about weight saving. Just get a time on the board then that's your benchmark to beat. A TT is against the clock and yourself more than against others. Yes, it'd be good to win, but to win you have to come last and lower placed a few times. Victory champagne tastes sweeter having drunk previously from the chalice of disappointment.

Done 1 before, but that was longer. That was hard.
But i'm not expecting to win as the top people use proper TT bikes and have special helmets to make them go faster.
Domtyler, for some reason, that doesnt sound right:wacko:

I thought about removing the spokes. I cant need any more then 12 at the most on each wheel can i? Infact, i think 12 on the back 8 on the front will be more then enough.

Surely you only need four per wheel? One in each corner? Just make sure you wind em up real tight.

Hmm, still dont think thats right, but then it will probably brake the wind for the feet and other stuff on the bike.
Still staying off though.
4 per wheel, hmm i'm not sure, i think i could get away with 3 on the front going by then aerospoke things.

Don't take off the bar end plugs - if you fall off and land on your handlebars, they'll core you like an apple.

In fact I seem to remember it is illegal to not have these?

That's the answer... drill holes through yourself!

Is this a regular event Joe? If so I propose a little experiment. Do the one tonight with all your weight saving measures and then repeat without. I'd be interested to know how much or how little they all make.

20 helium balloons would help to reduce the weight of the bike a reasonable amount. I'm not sure what effect that would have on drag though......
