Save the Velodrome

I thought they had already saved Herne Hill once, but it's under threat again.

We had a couple of CC group rides there over the summer and they were great fun. 15 of us on an empty track, paying less that £10 each for a couple of hours was great value, and I'm sure we'll be doing it again next summer if it's still open.

From what I heard it was often very busy during the summer months, so I don't see why they can't make it into a viable business.

Not to mention the history behind the track, it would be a huge loss not just to South London but the whole country.

The only way the track will be safe is if Dulwich Estates sell it and I doubt the'll do that. What BC need/want is a lease of several decades so that they can invest in the facility but DE don't want to do that either.

The trouble is, the land is worth much more than any cycling facility built upon it will bring in. What will probably happen is another short lease is granted.
