What about if you get a bike with tyres > = 120? This is what I did which made my first track pump a waste of money. Or it would have been had my five year old not destroyed it by taking it to the bottom of the garden and.......well whatever he did it never worked again.

I would spend as much as you can on a quality track pump ( I paid £38) and treat it with love. And don't lend it to any passing urchins.

I've got a Bontrager Charger, which is only £20.

It does both valves without changing anything. I'm not sure what PSI it goes up to, but it's a lot more that 120. (I go to 110 and it's about 2 thirds of the way around the gauge).

pumps easily and smoothly, and up to the required psi.

Plax! The Pssssssss could come from the valve not sitting correctly in the pump, or even the valve being too losely undone. Experience will teach you how to get the right balance of the valve being 'just right'.

Ok, I've splashed out on a Topeak Joe Blow sports track pump. They're selling them in Halfords for £26.66. You can get it on CRC for £24.99, but I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of collecting it from the sorting office.

It seems ok, although it doesn't show the current tyre pressure when you put it on first? I did what I do best and let all the air out before pumping it up to the max PSI of 95. When I put the pump back on, it didn't show 95PSI, the needle was just on zero. Am I missing a trick?

I think our Joe Blow does that as well, but as soon as you pump it once it shows the pressure.
