Hi Guys and Gals,
I own a 2006 Vauxhall Vectra and want to get a cycle carrier for the rear of my car.Ive done a fair bit of searching and the Saris Bones 2 carrier seems to be a big hit.Having a roof mounted carrier isnt an option due to some of the car parks have height restrictions and also i know that i will either get wedged uner a bridge or have the bike taken out by a low hanging branch lol.

Has anbody got one of the above carriers and would kindly share any pro's and cons of owning one.

Thanks

I have the saris sentinel 2 it's good for price

But really only for 1 bike and only been used on short journeys

But no complaints so far

Got a bones 3 on an A5. It takes 5-10 minutes to set up and take down. Arms that sit on boot have marred the paint work. It sits low on this car so it obscures the number plate/lights: had to buy a lighting board to stay legal. You can't access the boot with it attached. You can't leave it on the car while you're away because it can get easily removed. You need an extra support bar for bikes without a near horizontal top tube. Apart from that it's a decent piece of kit. You'd be better off with a tow bar mounted trailer if you have space and can afford it.

Cheers guys,

Ive looked further into the saris bones carrier and i will need some extra straps according to the website so im looking at about £140ish all in which is a tad expensice but if i know its definatly going to fit id pay it.

Unfortunatly i dont have a tow bar but if i did thule would be my first choice

Thanks again guys and feel free to reccomend any other carriers that will fit a 2006 Vauxhall Vectra hatchback

I have the bones 3. It's probably the most solid boot-mount strap on rack you can buy, but downsides are as per bobones' post. It's important that you have a lighting board fitted, or you could end up with a fine.
