i hasnt thought of that until a few weeks ago when a technician in the workshop was using saltwater to create a rusted surface,

its a shame because my regular leisure ride is along the coast from boscombe to poole. very flat and very fast :-) may have to make that a special treat now though :-S the bike is stored indoors so is dry the majority of its life, but i havent got a hose so it might be a sponge bath jobby!

a slosh with a bucket of tap water should clear salt /sand /grit
Sand has to be worst it mixes with grease and oil to form an abrsive paste
Ive even found it in rims when changing a tyre gawd knows how it got in ,underside of tube can get scratched if you rub it also , it just sucks as beach riding is great alloy is very resistant but dulls especially hangers and the bearings over time wear out if not cleaned push comes to shove a puddle
Or river is a good way to rinse of a bike
Ive done this .
