I went cycle camping (1974) on a Sun bike I salvaged from the local council tip, bought a rear steel rack and all my camping gear was stuffed in a canvas army kit bag tied on the bike with washing line. I had a canvas tent with wooden poles and a sheet of polythene for the ground sheet and everything else. How times have changed.....

Topeak do some decent items, I think you need to measure your volume you need to carry and buy something to suit. I would stretch your income slightly for quality and longlivity.....

Feck me! You have kidnapped "Frosty the Snowman" and tied him to your bike!

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Topeak for me - have 3 - small, medium and large (huge!). No trouble with zips (yet). Strap versions, attached to a Velcro strap loop on saddle rails, as I found them difficult to fit to my saddles. I also use an old toe strap through saddle rails and around bag - as extra security.
They do suck, I'd rather have a ruck sack on.

If it makes any difference I can vouch for the saddle bag in my previous post, they can take a tube, mini-tool, CO2 pump and levers, it secures easily with Velcro ... great bag but I've never attached a light to it.

Agreed on this on. I have the same, and easily fit a tube, 3 levers, multi-tool, chain tool, couple of gels, spare chain links, keys.
