I've got a charge spoon on the touring bike and a bg avatar on the hybrid...both comfy as. One of the problems with padded saddles that hasn't been mentioned is that as your sit bones sink in, they also displace the padding, and push it into areas that don't appreciate it. Not by a huge amount, but just enough to make it rather uncomfortable for the sensitive anatomy down there.

Another masochist Brooks fan here.

I bought a Charge bike recently which came with a Spoon saddle. Given the good reviews I thought I'd leave it on and try it - it's absolutely fine for 2 hours or less, but after that things start to get sore:ohmy:

Changing it for a Brooks is on my to do list. The problem I have is that I now have more bikes than Brooks saddles. I've got several Ti Swifts (all of which cost less than £50 each a few years ago) - they're now about £200:eek: I can't decide whether to buy a 'cheap' Brooks or to swap a saddle from a less used bike.

I used a spoon saddle on my hybrid and it was as comfortable as you like over any distance or period of time, I then switched it to my road bike and problems began, it's became uncomfortable after a short period of cycling and no matter how many adjustments I made over a six week period i had to switch saddles in the end.

I think it was down to the switch in riding styles, the hybrid being a more upright stance, while the road bike became a more leaned forward stance. After some online research and reading through many reviews, I opted for the Specialized Romin saddle (with advice form owners on here) ..At first I thought the saddle wouldn't be for me but, I did notice I was doing longer distances before the I could feel the saddle below me, not pain or uncomfortable, Just the knowledge the saddle felt really stiff.

I gave the saddle a few weeks and now I don't even notice it's there, I think it was down to the newness of the saddle and a little breaking in .period for both the saddle and my ass was needed. Now I can do any distance and the last thing on my mind is the comfort of the saddle because it suits me.

The Romin is a very good saddle.

What was the model you have as there seems to be several.

Here's some I was looking at this morning, in no order..
Specialized
BG Romin Expert
Phenom Expert
Selle Flight gel Pro
WTB Volt Pro.
All at 130mm.
I want a saddle for my road bike that is good for hours in the saddle not racing..

If you can get into a Specialized Elite or Concept store (not sure if they have then in Spain) they have the arsemeter, you basically sit on it, your arse makes a big indent (or really big if you are like me) , they then measure the indent and size you up. A decent store should also offer you an exchange option on the saddle you buy.

I have looked for a arsemeter shop over here but as yet not found one, I have looked at the big stores from the UK and its the 130mm that's short on stock.
I see Cyclesurgery are doing a Specialized Toupe Pro very cheap at £75 were other shops are asking £100 I could have that sent to our daughter's and she would send it on.
Cyclesurgery want £25 for delivery to Spain.
I would like to buy from the UK as they do a better return service should you need it.

Another vote for the Romin, and another vote against the Charge Spoon.

I'm one of the hoardes who has spent £££'s on saddles, from the Spoon to Brooks to carbon fibre wonder wings, but when I eventually bothered to do my homework and measure what needed to be measured I got the Romin Expert, and I've not looked back since.

I have the Romin Expert Road that I bought in the sales at EBC ..If I remember right I got it £20 cheaper than advertised

Been looking at that seat too. What's the sizing to do with? As I see it comes in various ones.

I think myself the size is more important than perhaps what the saddle is made of.
Could be wrong I normally am...

The material is not hugely important in my view... I do appreciate that some people (maybe 20%) don't get on with the Spoon, but most do, and you will be able to resell easily if you don't like it
