My local specialized shop let you take a saddle back and swap it if you aren't comfortable with it, no idea what the time frame is though.

Bontrager do that deal, I did not have to take mine back though.

Trial and error. Having the right width is a start but not all one size/shapes fits all

I think Specialized do trial saddles etc

I know my saddle on the Defy works well for me, despite having very little padding. Proof that it's all in the shape. Will look for something similar. Actually, I might even swap it over to test it on the Bianchi.
